Crowd test VR gogglesCentral Nebraskan hockey fans were invited to test mobile tech gadgets from Alcatel during the Tri-City Storm’s home-opener at the Viaero Center in Kearney, Nebraska. Attendees experienced Alcatel’s virtual reality (VR) goggles and wearable OneTouch GO Watch first-hand.

Adam Perry, one of our tech specialists, supervised Viaero’s “Tech Talk” booth. He gave demonstrations and helped people test-out the VR goggles and GO Watch.

Fans had extremely positive feedback about the two devices and they enjoyed playing with the gadgets throughout the hockey game.

Alcatel VR Goggles: Like You Are Really There

Alcatel VR goggles & IDOL4sThe Alcatel VR goggles come as the packaging for the Idol 4s smartphone, which includes pre-loaded VR experiences.

Like many of us at Viaero, hockey fans were eager to try out the VR goggles.

“Everyone who tried on the googles loved it!” Adam said.

The immersive experience of the VR goggles surprised a couple of testers, especially in the bustling Viaero Center.

“It is crazy how it takes you out of normal reality and takes you someplace different; more than a movie,” Josh Pinkham, from Kearney, said.

Josh’s friend, Dillon Smith, is a big fan of VR technology and an avid virtual gamer. Dillon added, “VR takes gaming to a whole new level… it makes you feel like you’re in the game.”

OneTouch GO Watch: Here’s to Your Health

Alcatel GO WatchThe GO Watch is compatible with both Apple and Android operating systems.

It features long battery life, a heart rate sensor, smartphone media control, and a customizable face and wrist band.

With the VR goggles around, the GO Watch got far less attention. However, the people who tried it out liked it. We heard that people were interested in the “health” features like the pedometer and heart-rate monitor. The “photo timer” feature, which allows you to take a family photo with just a click on your watch, was a huge plus for some testers.

Adam is familiar with the older OneTouch watch, but likes the GO more. He enjoys the sleeker look and feel, as well as the "health" features. “So far, the GO Watch is better… we have it at a good price point and I’ve really enjoyed it.”
