The segments are scheduled to air at 5 pm and 10 pm on NTV’s station based in Kearney, Nebraska. As Viaero’s expert on kids’ smartphone safety, Cora will be discussing the importance of keeping children safe from inappropriate online content and ways parents can help prevent access. Besides parental control apps, parents can discuss and demonstrate appropriate behaviors with their children. Cora states that “two situations present the opportunity to place children in danger every day.” “The first is placing them in a car and the second is exposing them to what’s on the internet.” While smartphones are only one of the ways kids can access inappropriate content online, these devices can present a significant risk. A combination of numerous apps that link to online sources, instant messaging apps, social media sites, and web browsers increases the potential for access. Smartphones can also be more difficult to monitor since children take and use them outside the home.
